    Issue 27 of Perspectivas - Journal of Political Science - features eleven articles, which shed light, from different perspectives, on New Globalization Challenges and EU Trade Policy. The special issue sets out to take stock of the essential features of today’s trading system and the challenges facing the EU in a weakened multilateral trade order. While it seeks a political economy approach it gathers economists, political scientists, international lawyers and other social scientists and practitioners to discuss the topic from an interdisciplinary perspective.

  • Environmental Histories of Mediterranean Fascisms
    Vol. 25 (2021)

    The Volume 25 is a Special Issue of Perspectivas - Journal of Political Science contains two articles that address issues relating to Spanish colonization. The first is about Colonization in Badajoz Province, and the second about the Environmental Coloniality in Francoist Spain.

    The other two articles focus on European Countries. One of them analyzes the Italian fascist modernization and colonial landscape in Albania and the other one makes us reflect about Greece under Metaxas’ Regime.

    The last two articles concern fascist colonialism in Libya and Mozambique.

    The Volume 24 of Perspectivas - Journal of Political Science contains two articles that address issues relating to European integration. The first is about Greek policy and strategy, and the second about the influence of long-distance transport, stimulated by migration, in the consolidation of the European project.

    The other two articles focus on Angola and Portugal. One of them analyzes the impact of administrative modernization on the quality of public service provision and the other makes us reflect about the effects of racism and police violence episodes on the political system.

    Volume 22 of the Perspectivas - Journal of Political Science covers different fields of the main area of Political Science, with articles among themselves heterogeneous, but sharing the ambition to stimulate reflection around crucial problems of our contemporaneity.

    In summary, this volume of Perspectivas inquires a wide number of questions, ranging from Political Theory, International Economic Law and Public Administration, providing us with a scientific and critical perspective on crucial aspects of our present and our future.

    The Volume 21 of Perspectivas, the journal of the Research Center in Political Science, contains two articles from the field of Political Science, the first two of the issue, and two articles from the field of International Relations, the last two ones. The first article addresses the political determinants of populism in Italy , the second article deals with unruly movements, under Muslim influence in India and nearby Asia, the third article analyses the Arctic continent management and mismanagement, and the last article is on the inter-disciplinarily on political science and International Relations.

    Volume 20 of Perspectivas – Journal of Political Science, contains articles covering topics in the field of Political Science, addressing the “yellow vests”  protests in Paris,  voter behavior in the democratic process, the decentralization of power and the functioning of the Portuguese justice system.

  • Vol. 19 (2018)

    Perspectivas – Journal of Political Science, contains articles covering topics in the field of Political Science, addressing constitutional, electoral participation and local governance issues. Of the five articles that are part of this volume, three are dedicated to the analysis of specific issues that fit in the context of Portuguese present and past history. The two last manuscripts deal with strategies to generalize the so-called “stylized” model of electoral cycles.

    The edition of this issue was produced by the a new Editorial Team, composed by the Editor-in-Chief Professor Joaquim Filipe Araújo and the Editors Professor Irene Viparelli, Professor José Palmeira and Professor Miguel Rocha de Sousa.

    Vol. 17

    Volume 17 of Perspectivas is a Special Issue with the theme "Peace Studies in International Relations' Research Agenda" and is dedicated to Professor Johan Galtung, who came to the University of Minho on October 20 to talk on the theme “Five Decades of Peace Research: Past and Future”. Professor Galtung is known worldwide as the founder of the academic discipline “Peace Studies” and mentor, both theoretically and practically, in the field of mediation and conflict transformation.

    The Volume 13 of Perspectivas - Portuguese Journal of Political Science is focused on the central issues of International Relations. This volume also evokes In Memoriam: Lúcio Craveiro da Silva, on the pretext of the centenary of his birth. A volume dedicated to the one who was responsible for the creation of the first International Relations course in Portugal in 1975, at the University of Minho.

    Vol. 12

    Perspectivas dedicates this Special Issue to the theme of Democracy, under the pretext of marking the 40th anniversary of the Portuguese Carnation Revolution, as became known the military coup overthrow of the authoritarian regime, which inaugurated what Samuel Huntinghton (1991) called the "third wave of democratization", including other southern European states (Greece and Spain) and Latin America, and would continue in central and eastern Europe following the implosion of the Soviet Union. This Special Issue is titled "Democracy in the 21st Century".

    The volume 5 of Perspectivas collects the papers presented at the international conference held at the Portuguese Assembly of the Republic, on June 19 and 20 of 2009, titled "Parliamentary Representation: the Portuguese Case in Comparative Perspective", carried out within the scope of the research project "Portuguese Representatives in Comparative Perspective: Elections , leadership and political representation "(Project FCT-MCTES: PDTC/CPO/64469/2006).

    Vol. 4 (2010)

    Volume 4 of Perspectivas commemorates a new phase of NICPRI - Research Center in Political Science and International Relations, marked by an interinstitutional alliance that brought together researchers from University of Minho and University of Évora with interests focused on the fields of research in Political Science, International Relations and European Studies.
    This union was celebrated with a Research Seminar held in Évora in October 2008, titled “Europe, Portugal and the Challenges of Globalization: Transdisciplinary Perspectives”. This Seminar results in a double issue of the journal, which includes most of the communications presented.
